Major Research Achievements:

Seung-Bok Choi is a fellow of the Korea Academy of Science and Technology (KAST), and National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK). His research is focused on control of various systems and mechanisms using smart materials of piezoelectric actuators and sensors, shape memory alloys, magnetorheological materials and electrorheological fluid. In addition, his interests include robust control theory, automotive control, vibration control and robot control, various medical devices such as rehabilitation device. He has published 2 books, 8 edited books, and more than 600 international SCI (science citation index) journal papers in these research fields. He is now serving as the chief-editor and associate editor of several international journals including Frontiers in Materials-Smart Material, Current Smart Materials, Scientific Report, Smart Materials and Structures, Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, Sensors, and Advances in Mechanical Engineering. He has received many distinguished awards on smart materials and structures: 2015 Adaptive Structure Award from ASME (America Society of Mechanical Engineers), Best Paper Award from IMehE (Institute of Mechanical Engineers), Outstanding Contribution Awards from both the NAEK and KAST and Honor Medal for Science and Technology from Korean Government.
